The move & more. . . 03/05/2012
Hey there, friends! I have been ever so slack about uploading pictures of work this year. I've really gotten into sculpting and LOVE it, and that's pretty much all I want to do lately. I loaned my wheel to a friend this summer and have it back as of last week, so I suppose I will be throwing again sometime soon. I really only want to sculpt. It is strange when you finally find that thing that makes you feel the way you do when you are completely immersed in your creations. I've felt it before doing the carving on vases and such, but that has been really taxing on my wrist and neck. I did so many works in 2010 that I think it just did me in for a while. So since then, we got married and have moved. The new "studio" is still a storage room and there's no space to work that feels right. Working full time makes me not have as much time to dedicate to all of the things I really want to do. Been struggling with that lately. I am very interested in pouring bronze or creating bronze/aluminum/steel replicas of my new work. At this point, the sculptures I have made are more like sketches. The real deal is on the way, I will be dedicating a lot more time to sculpting in the near future. If you know anyone who lives in or near Greenville, NC and would like to be a subject for a sculpture, have them send me pics. (don't have to be nude! a headshot and a full-body pic with clothes or swimsuit preferred) So blah blah blah yeah yeah yeah. . . gotta get busy!! :D Jules 1 Comment In progress photos from a few months ago 05/26/2011
New Year Update 01/03/2011
Welcome, 2011. I can't believe you are here so soon!! I have plenty of photographs from work I did between October and December that I didn't take the time to upload to this site. I will upload those photographs as soon as possible! I was too busy making pots to get online and document! Thank you for the business, and the pleasure of keeping my hands in the clay. I've enjoyed every moment. One piece I made in 2010 was broken in shipping. Only one out of a lot of shipped pieces this year, I guess I can't complain too much. I have been fortunate to have very few things like that happen. As many of you who know me already know, Jonathan and I are getting married in April. We are super excited, and . . . also super busy. I will not be able to take orders between January and the end of April 2011. My apologies if you wish to order something as a gift and I'm unable to create it. *However* if you wish to order something, and the person you are ordering for doesn't mind that it will be made after May 1 . . . go on and send me an email. I'll be happy to put it in que for production starting in May. Avett fans, thank you all for your kindness, support and orders! You guys have each been amazing to talk to, meet and email with! I appreciate you all, and it is wonderful to share such an amazing common interest. Avett fans have so much heart! : ) Bob's cups 10/24/2010
Kiln Openings!! 09/14/2010
I've been super busy lately with new work, with wedding plans, with goofing off. . . . but here's some stuff fresh out of the kiln! (only a few items in the kiln are mine) The urn has not yet been sold, neither has the Gleam II cup. I've been debating on weather or not to keep/sell them. Thoughts? just out of the kiln last week 07/16/2010
Jack's Avett cup, Melody's vase (she threw the vase and I carved it for her), and Davina's Marshall cup. The Marshall cup is dark green, but it looks better to me in black and white. note from Sophie (Avett vase) 07/16/2010
Oh my goodness! I am so overwhelmed! Obviously, I cried. Thank you so, so, so much! You are amazing. Hope you are well, my friend. ♥ Stu-Stu-Studio . . . . ooooooOOOO 07/12/2010
These photos were taken July 10 & 11. I was recycling some clay on Saturday and carving a vase and a cup on Sunday. The vase is a present from some cool friends to a special girl . . . . I can't wait to hear what they think when it arrives. | : )I love art, clay, music, dancing like an idiot, kayaking, laughing, couchsurfing.org, my job, my friends, my amazing family, sunshine, pretty flowers, Mackenzie (my chocolate lab), my sister, my husband Jonathan, my roomie Adam, my wonderful parents, roadtrips, sunsets, Italy, Bernini, and most of all. . . .
